ENGINEER
PLACEMENTS.
The two paid, supervised placements: £150 per session actually worked, up to two, with Sebastien Sanders at La Vie Studio.
These terms are the placement agreement between the selected engineer and La Vie Studio Ltd, delivered as part of ACCESS 001 with CBLV Community CIC (together, "the organisers"). You accept them online by pressing Accept Place & Agree to Terms on the offer page. There is no other contract to sign.
1. Your placement
This is a paid, supervised development placement for an emerging recording engineer or producer aged 18 or over:
- Your supervisor: Sebastien Sanders, La Vie Studio.
- Sessions: up to two agreed supervised studio sessions at La Vie Studio. Each session typically lasts 6 to 8 hours. Dates and times are confirmed in your portal.
- What you do: learn and assist with recording, microphones, signal flow, setup, session organisation and related work suited to your skills. Your supervisor explains the activities and the safety requirements.
- What you also get: guidance and feedback from experienced practitioners, and development and progression advice.
The placement does not promise ongoing employment, freelance bookings or future paid work.
2. Your fee
You are paid:
- £150 for each agreed session you actually attend and work
- up to two sessions, so £300 in total at most
This is not a guaranteed £300 award: attend one session and you earn £150. You do not earn a fee for a session you don't work, except where the law requires payment.
La Vie Studio Ltd normally pays by bank transfer within 30 days after the worked session, once it has your payment details through the portal. Partial sessions, cancellations after work has started, and any statutory pay entitlement are handled lawfully. Any employment, worker, minimum-wage, holiday or tax rights depend on the real working arrangement and are not waived by these terms.
3. Attendance and studio arrangements
- Arrive on time and follow your supervisor's instructions and the studio's health and safety procedures.
- Work respectfully with artists, other participants and staff, and look after equipment.
- Tell us as early as possible if you cannot attend. Rescheduling for illness may be possible but is not guaranteed.
- Keep unreleased music, project files, artist and client information and login details confidential.
- Don't copy, share, upload or use any recording in a portfolio without permission.
- Serious misconduct may lead to the placement ending after a fair process, with urgent safety action where needed.
4. Credits and rights
You receive an accurate credit for work you actually do. A particular number of credits is not guaranteed. Engineering or assisting does not by itself create a songwriting, master or producer royalty share. If you make a genuine creative contribution to a song, it is documented later with the song's actual contributors, outside these terms.
5. Filming, photography and promotion
Some sessions take place while an act's live-room performance or showcase is filmed, photographed or livestreamed, and you may appear in that material while you work.
By accepting, you grant CBLV Community CIC and La Vie Studio Ltd a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to film and photograph you while you work at those agreed activities, and to use your appearance and your participation in the placement in the resulting material:
- in the full filmed performances, edited clips, excerpts, photographs and stills
- for ACCESS 001 publicity, reporting, case studies and funding reports
- on the websites, social media, portfolios, showreels and promotional materials of La Vie Studio and CBLV Community CIC, to promote their own work
- for the same periods as the act's material: the showcase livestream replay for up to 12 months, new publication for up to 24 months after the programme ends, and material already published may stay available afterwards
Your appearance only. This licence covers your own appearance and participation. You do not grant, and are not asked to grant, any rights in the artists' music, recordings or performances: the act licenses those under the Artist Programme Terms. Nothing in this section transfers any copyright, and it is not a credit for work you did not do (section 4).
Part of the placement. This is a condition of the placement, not a separate or optional permission. It cannot be withdrawn because you later change your mind, and it continues for material already recorded if you leave the placement. It remains subject to rights that cannot be excluded by law. We will consider any request to correct inaccurate material, or to remove something for a genuine safety or wellbeing reason. Other people can watch or capture a public livestream, and copies they share cannot always be removed.
6. Other arrangements
- Travel: costs may be reimbursed under the published ACCESS 001 Travel Reimbursement Policy. Reimbursement is subject to eligibility, available funding, approval and evidence. The travel budget is a shared programme allocation, not an individual entitlement.
- Feedback: you may be asked for reasonable feedback.
- Social media: posting is encouraged but never required.
- Privacy: your information is handled under the ACCESS 001 Privacy Notice.
- Accessibility: La Vie Studio's current premises are not wheelchair accessible. Please talk to us privately about any adjustments.
